Centre Avenue Students Win Mr. Smyle Day Experience

Two lucky Centre Avenue Elementary School students recently had the opportunity to spend a special day as teaching assistants to beloved Physical Education teacher Mr. Smyle.
Kindergartener Vincenzia Rivera from Mrs. Allgier's class and fourth grader Alex Narizzano from Mrs. Miolan's class were selected as this year's winners of the Mr. Smyle Day raffle, a fundraiser that benefits the graduating sixth grade class.
The fundraiser, which began a few years ago, allows families to purchase up to six raffle tickets. Principal Mrs. Kelly then draws two student names from the collected entries. The winners receive special badges and spend the day accompanying Mr. Smyle throughout his P.E. classes.
Both Vincenzia and Alex proved to be enthusiastic helpers during their experience. They assisted with setting up and removing equipment, selecting class leaders, explaining game rules, and supporting classroom management. Both Alex and Vincenzia were always asking for the next 'job' and were totally involved, Mr. Smyle noted.
The day concluded with the students enjoying lunch in Mr. Smyle's office, where they shared plenty of fun conversations. The experience gave both young students a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to lead an active and engaging physical education class while supporting a great cause for Centre Avenue's sixth graders.
