East Rockaway High School announces valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2026

East Rockaway High School is proud to announce its Class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian – two remarkable young women whose dedication to academics, leadership, service and the arts have left an indelible mark on the East Rockaway community.
Charlotte Webster has earned the distinction of valedictorian through four years of exceptional scholarship, tireless commitment and quiet strength of character. An ambitious student who consistently excels on AP exams, SATs and ACTs, Charlotte also serves as class president and holds leadership roles in student council, Key Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Peer Leaders, Herstory and the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council.
Charlotte's artistry is equally impressive. A flutist who has performed in the orchestra for all the district musical productions since ninth grade, Charlotte has earned recognition at NYSSMA and All-County – and was named Best Pit Performer at ERHS. As Head of Art Interpretation for Rock Rivalry, she oversaw one of the production's most complex creative roles. Her service record, which includes more than 80 volunteer hours with East Rockaway Schools, Cohen's Children's Hospital, holiday festivals, and summer programs, reflects a deep commitment to giving back. Add to all this a travel softball career and a part-time job, and it becomes clear that Charlotte simply brings everything she has to everything she does.
Victoria Schaefer has earned the honor of salutatorian through a high school career defined by intellectual courage, artistic vision and genuine service to others. She will have completed 10 AP courses by graduation, including AP Physics, which is among the most rigorous offerings at East Rockaway High School.
Beyond the classroom, Victoria is a cornerstone of school life. As president of the senior band and a dedicated member of the marching band, she brings energy and leadership to every performance. A scholar-athlete on the MER varsity lacrosse team, she maintains academic excellence while showing up fully for her teammates. Her involvement in student council, Key Club, National Honor Society and Sources of Strength speaks to a student who understands that community is something you build together.
Victoria's artistic talent has earned her multiple awards, with work exhibited in Art in the Heart at the Long Island Children's Museum and Colors of Long Island, as well as recognition from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Victoria also contributes significantly to the community through painting backdrops for the school plays, guiding seventh graders at orientation and babysitting after school to help her neighbors.
East Rockaway is so proud of both Charlotte and Victoria and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them both.
