ERHS student's artwork selected for prestigious Heckscher Museum exhibition

East Rockaway continues to celebrate exceptional achievement in the arts as senior Sophia Carnesi has been accepted into the highly competitive Long Island's Best: Young Artists exhibition at The Heckscher Museum of Art.
Sophia's digital art piece, Domestic Light, was selected from a pool of 402 submissions, with only 84 works earning acceptance into the prestigious 2026 show – an acceptance rate of approximately 21 percent. The piece will be displayed at The Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington from Mar. 29-May 3.
We are thrilled for this prestigious regional award and achievement for both Sophia and our art program, said art teacher Kristie Galante. This recognition reflects the exceptional talent and dedication of our students and the strength of arts education in East Rockaway.
The Long Island's Best: Young Artists exhibition showcases outstanding work from young artists across the region, providing students with the opportunity to display their work in a professional museum setting alongside their peers.
The community is invited to view Sophia's work and support East Rockaway's arts program by visiting the exhibition during its run this spring.
