East Rockaway High School Tri-M Students Experience World-Class Opera at the Met

On Tuesday, Oct.14th, approximately 30 students from the East Rockaway High School Tri-M Music Honor Society had the extraordinary opportunity to attend a final dress rehearsal at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
The students witnessed a performance of Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera “La Fille du Régiment” (“The Daughter of the Regiment”), experiencing firsthand the artistry of world-class musicians performing at one of the globe's most prestigious opera houses. Final dress rehearsals at the Met offer audiences a unique glimpse into the professional opera world, featuring the full production with costumes, sets and orchestra in their final preparation before opening night.
East Rockaway High School's chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society comprises approximately 30 dedicated student musicians who are active members of the ERHS Music Department. These students demonstrate their commitment to music education by supporting their community and schools through various initiatives, including fundraisers, performances and volunteer work at local events.
The Metropolitan Opera field trip exemplifies Tri-M's mission to provide members with enriching musical experiences while cultivating an appreciation for the performing arts. Such opportunities allow young musicians to witness professional artistry at the highest level, inspiring their own musical journeys and deepening their understanding of classical performance traditions.
