East Rockaway High School celebrates homecoming with parade and big win

East Rockaway High School marked its annual homecoming on Sept. 20 with a spirited community celebration and a commanding victory over the Lawrence Golden Tornadoes.
The day began with a parade that stretched from Centre Avenue Elementary School to the high school along Ocean Avenue. Students and families lined the streets as fall athletic teams, the East Rockaway High School Band, cheerleading squads, administrators and local peewee football players and cheerleaders marched proudly.
Once at the high school, the festivities continued with food stands run by class officers and representatives, helping to raise funds for future class activities. Face painting and other family-friendly activities kept the youngest fans entertained while building school spirit.
The highlight of the day came on the field, where the Rocks dominated the Golden Tornadoes with a decisive 49–19 win. The victory capped off a day that celebrated school pride, community involvement and athletic achievement.
