East Rockaway Junior High students compete in spirit-Filled Quiz Bowl

On Friday, May 9, East Rockaway Junior/Senior High School hosted the Junior High Quiz Bowl, giving 7th and 8th grade students a chance to experience the excitement of academic competition. Modeled after the high school’s popular Quiz Bowl—a key event in the annual Rock Rivalry—the junior high version brought energy, learning, and school spirit to the afternoon.
The event was hosted by social studies teacher Mr. Don Poland, with the support of seniors Timothy Poland and Isabella DeCunzo, who served as quizmasters. Questions focused on curriculum-based content and fun facts about East Rockaway’s history, keeping the students on their toes.
After a lively competition, the 8th grade team emerged victorious. The event was a great opportunity for younger students to engage with academic material in a dynamic and collaborative way—and to get a taste of the spirited traditions that await them in high school.
