Superintendent, approve the appointment of Phyllis Jencius to the part-time
position of reading teacher (FTE .8) for the 2011-2012 school year, at the

Association Contract for the 2011-2012 school year.

Upon
the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the continuation of the
appointment of Danielle DiChiara to the position of leave replacement
mathematics teacher, effective September 1, 2011, through the end of the fall
semester of the 2011-2012 school year, at the prorated MA, Step 3 annual salary
established by the East Rockaway Teachers Association contract for the 2011 –
2012 school year.

Upon
the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the request for an unpaid
leave of absence for Christine Ericson from her reading teacher position
effective September 1, 2011, through June 30, 2012.

of the Superintendent, that there being a vacancy in the teaching assistant
tenure area effective September 1, 2011, due to a resignation, pursuant to
Education Law §2510 the Board of Education of the East Rockaway UFSD hereby
reinstates Lauren Stein, who was
to be placed on the preferred eligibility list for teaching assistants as of
June 30, 2011, to said teaching assistant position as a full-time probationary
teaching assistant, effective September 1, 2011, through November 16, 2013,
(tenure area: teaching assistant; certification status: Initial), at the Step 2 annual salary set
forth in the East Rockaway Teachers Association Contract for teaching
assistants for the 2011-2012 school year.
12. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, accept the resignation of
Marisa Paider from her probationary special education teacher position,
effective June 30, 2011.
13. Upon the recommendation
of the Superintendent, accept the resignation of Christel Heidrich, from the
position of food service worker, effective June 22, 2011.
14. Upon the recommendation
of the Superintendent, approve the following special education summer school
appointments, effective July 4, 2011, through August 12, 2011, at the hourly
salary established by the East Rockaway Teachers Association contract for the 2011 – 2012 school year:

16. Upon the recommendation
of the Superintendent, approve the appointment of Doreen Marturano to the
position of summer school nurse for the special education summer school
program, effective July 4, 2011, through August 12, 2011, at the hourly salary
established by the East Rockaway Board of Education on the non-contractual
salary schedule for the 2011-2012 school year.
17. Upon the recommendation
of the Superintendent, approve the appointment of Francesca DeVivo to the
position of summer monitor, effective July 4, 2011, through August 12, 2011, at
the Step 8 hourly salary established by the East Rockaway Food Service and
Monitors Union agreement for the 2011 – 2012 school year.
18. Upon the recommendation
of the Superintendent, approve the following appointments for summer CSE/CPSE
meetings, effective July 1, 2011, through August 31, 2011, at the hourly salary set forth in the East

6. Approve the award of the
contract for the purchase and installation of exterior doors at Rhame Avenue
Elementary School, Capital Improvement Program No. 28-02-19-03-0-002-007, to
the lowest responsible bidder, C & M Door Controls and authorize the
President of the Board of Education to execute the contract on behalf of the
East Rockaway Board of Education.
7. Reject the bids received
for the purchase and installation of doors at East Rockaway Jr/Sr High School,
Capital Improvement Program No. 28-02-19-03-0-001-030 and authorize the
Director of Finance and Operations to re-open the bid for this project in the
immediate future.
8. Declare obsolete for the
purpose of disposal and/or recycling, the equipment more fully set forth on the
attached list of Obsolete Equipment dated April 29, 2011.
9. Approve the terms of the
Letter of Intent No. 262198AM for technology upgrades with Nassau BOCES and
authorize the President of the Board of Education to execute the Letter of
Intent on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of Education.
10. Accept the proposal
offered by AssetWorks Appraisal to provide professional appraisal and valuation
services for the reappraisal of capitalized assets for 2010-2011 financial
reports and authorize the President of the Board of Education to execute the
resulting service agreement on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of
Education.
11. Approve the tuition
agreement with Martin De Porres for special education services for one (1)
student, Student ID No. 180005445, for the period May 6, 2011 through June 30,
2011, and authorize the President of the Board of Education to execute the
tuition agreement on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of Education.
12. Approve the admission of
Lynbrook UFSD Student I.D. No. 180007236 to attend the East Rockaway Public
Schools for the period April 11, 2011, through June 24, 2011, and authorize the
President of the Board of Education to execute the tuition agreement between
the Board of Education of East Rockaway UFSD and the Board of Education of
Lynbrook UFSD.
13. Approve the tuition
agreement with United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. for two
(2) students, Student ID No. 180005897 and 180005184 for the period July 1,
2011, through June 30, 2012, and authorize the President of the Board of
Education to execute the contract on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of
Education.
14. Approve the tuition
agreement with Seaford UFSD for special education services for one (1) student,
Student ID No. 0500003747-JR for the school year 2010-2011 and authorize the
President of the Board of Education and the District Clerk to execute the
resulting service agreement on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of
Education.
15. Approve the tuition
agreement with Oceanside UFSD for special education services for two (2)
students, Student ID No. 180005183-RP and 180004142-MR for the school year
2010-2011 and authorize the President of the Board of Education to execute the
resulting service agreement on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of
Education.
16. Approve the purchase of
the following textbooks and workbooks:

18. Accept donations for the
East Rockaway School Science Department’s Greenhouse Project from C.K.
Haddocks, Inc. ($100.00), M & MZ, Inc. ($50.00) and

resolution:
RESOLVED, that the proposed 2011-2012 budget for school purposes in the total
amount of Thirty-Four Million, Three Hundred Seventeen Thousand, Nine Hundred
Fifty-Nine and no/100 ($34,317,959.00)
dollars be adopted, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the East Rockaway Union
Free School District authorizes the expenditure of said sum during the ensuing
school year, and the necessary taxes upon the taxable property of the school
district to meet said expenditures after first deducting the monies available
from state aid and other sources.
20. Approve the contract
with Robert Lee Emery for consultant services for the 2011-2012 school year and
authorize the President of the Board of Education to sign the contract on
behalf of the East Rockaway Board of Education.
21. Approve the following
resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, that approval is hereby granted to increase the 2010-2011
recommended award amount to Cookies and More and T.A. Morris and Sons by $3,000
and $25,000, respectively.
22. Approve the resolution
to issue Tax Anticipation Notes in the sum not to exceed Ten Million
($10,000,000.00) Dollars as more fully set forth on the attached Schedule “A.”
23. Approve the contract
with Advance 2000 for a district-wide telephone system with support and maintenance
and authorize the President of the Board of Education to execute the contract
on behalf of the East Rockaway Board of Education.
